Any resident (over 18 years of age) who lives in Lanark Highlands Township may apply for an open air fire permit. Residents who are renting will require approval from their landlord before an open air fire permit can be issued.

Yes, residents are required to renew their fire permit January 1st each year.

Do I need to activate my permit for a recreational camp fire? (Less than 3.25 feet in diameter and height)

You do not need to activate your burn permit if it is only a recreational campfire!

What fires do I need to activate my burn permit for?

Only fires that are over 3.25 feet in diameter and height.

When can I burn during the Provincial Fire Season of April 1st – October 31st?

The fire is started no earlier than two hours before sunset and is extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise the following day.

When can I burn outside of the Provincial Fire Season of November 1st – March 30th?

There is no set time from November 1st - March 30th, residents shall follow all restrictions stated on their burn permit
